About Abacus Partners
Abacus Partners is all about helping leaders and their businesses thrive amidst the challenges of transformation and change. We help unleash fresh ideas, motivation, and focus to improve performance and achieve big, hairy, scary goals. If it involves technology, then even better!
I studied Engineering, Computer Science and Business at Stellenbosch in South Africa and worked as a management consultant and systems integrator for Accenture and IBM for 16 years. In 2007, I enrolled in London Business School to pursue an MBA, hoping to find a more entrepreneurial career.
At LBS, I discovered the concept of search funds and launched my search journey two weeks before the birth of my fourth child at the end of 2008. In 2011, I acquired payment processor Servebase Computers (later rebranded as PXP Solutions). I spent three very challenging and eventful years transforming PXP before exiting to Kalixa in 2014.
Since then, I have worked in private equity and AI-based fraud detection and co-founded a B2B marketplace that sells advanced industrial technology to mines and energy companies worldwide. I now work with several promising technology businesses and search funds as a board member and coach.
I am a graduate of Meyler Campbell’s renowned Mastered executive coaching programme, and accredited by EMCC Global as an individual practitioner. I am also a graduate of Seth Godin’s altMBA, an accredited Nervous System Mastery practitioner, and an accredited Mindshop Independent Advisor.
I have chaired and sat on the boards of several remarkable charities, primarily focusing on education, poverty alleviation, and supporting underprivileged families and young people in the UK and abroad. I am currently an Entrepreneur Mentor in Residence at London Business School and a Business Mentor for Be The Business.
I live in Hertfordshire in the UK, happily married for over 28 years, the father of four exceptional children, and the owner of a slightly mental Jack Russell terrier. I’m always happy to talk about technology, guitars, rugby, test cricket, fly fishing, and woodworking over a pint of real ale.
I look forward to meeting you and hopefully working together!
